GANSUI... Gallery of contemporary ceramic art

2017. JULY

OSAMU INAYOSHI

the latest work

Osamu Inayoshi relishes old and extincting cultures.

He doesn't hope to keep old pieces as a debris or an icon of disappearing matters. He loves the beauty of the old pieces in his daily life. He produces ceramic works with traditional techniques. But his work is not a fake old antique. His ATSUMI ware is a sort of Renaissance. He would create brand new beauty of ATUSMI pottery with materials from his home land, Toyohashi.

An extinct pottery ATSUMI

ATSUMI was one of the big old ceramic producing place from the beginning of the 12th century to the 13th century. Chita peninsula and Atsumi peninsula formed big production area of potteries. Tokoname in Chita peninsula is a leading industrial zone today but they stopped making pottery at Atsumi area in the 13th century.
