KAZU YAMADA(b.1954-)


Born and grew up at Tokoname, a town of ceramic poducts in Aichi prefecture. His uncle was designated a human national treasure of TOKONAME tea pots. When Mr.Yamada was young, he was moved by a SHINO tea bowl made by Mr.Tokuro Kato. Arter graduation from Osaka Art University, he moved to Fukui prefecture and built up his own style among the traditional potteries of Seto and Mino area. Yamada didn't apprentice himself anywhere. His mentor was Mr.Tokuro Kato.
